I think you should. It's kinda hilarious. But I think it is also the best way to run a mafia game- there's no predetermined follow this guy or this lady is always mafia. I loved it.

I really dig it. There's no pre-conceived notions about any of the players, no past baggage to deal with, just having fun with the game. I'd wondered about running a game like that in the past, and I'm SO glad Jon did it.

This board's emoticons are much superior to both the EBB and VA boards.

I definitely want the drafts back. The mafia stuff too, but if nobody else cares about it, then I guess it's secondary.

Good idea, though I'm not sure how you can get secondary pages (eg page 2 and beyond) unless you know what to search for exactly.

Yeah, I'm not sure. I can find the Mafia Planning Thread v.3 Archive, which is over 100 posts worth. But there's still 4 pages of that and I'm not sure how to get to page2 of even that.

Hmm....actually, the archive has different versions to it. Google has cached each page of VA's archives.

Try typing "Mafia Planning Thread archive" into Google. The first item that comes up has a "more results from theviewaskewboard.com" link. Click that.

Now, this is not a race or yet another reason to taunt on the internet, but just a friendly challenge of which your own goal is the only one that matters. If it's to watch as many as possible and go after the record (currently 1287 by nook-nook), then that's your goal and I wish you well. If it's simply to watch 50 new movies, go ahead.

We're going to have a lot more going on this year. In addition to the straight total movies, there will be a point system with weekly, monthly, and yearly challenges. Each movie you watch will be worth one point. I encourage talk as to what future challenges will be, so get those ideas rolling. I will try to make the challenges as cheap as possible - I don't own everything and no one else does either, and we can't expect everyone else to have access to every movie out there either.

Some challenges will require watching specific movies or types of movies. I will try to limit this as much as possible because it may exclude some who've watched said movie(s) earlier in the year. However, as commentary tracks are considered a separate viewing, I hope this won't be a problem for anyone. Some will be easy to figure out - I hope you've currently had your fill of Christmas movies and are perfectly fine waiting until December to start watching more.

If you simply want to watch movies and see if you can hit the 366, great! That's what this challenge really is about. I will be keeping separate leaderboards for movies watched and points scored, so feel free to jump in and out of challenges as you see fit or to just ignore them completely.

WEEKLY CHALLENGES:
Week 6 - February 5-11 - Watch 3 movies that share the same director and one actor/actress. - 3 points
Week 7 - February 12-18 - Watch 4 films that were adapted from a novel/novella. - 2 points.
Week 8 - February 19-25 - Watch 5 films you've never seen before - 3 points
Week 9 - February 26 - March 3 - No Challenge

MONTHLY CHALLENGES:
February - Watch 13 films that contain a number in some form. Written or numerically is fine. Things such as "once" do not count. (I'll edit in any other examples I find to define the challenge)

YEARLY CHALLENGES:
1: Moviegoer Challenge - Watch at least 36 movies(multiple viewings count) in theaters this year - 35 points
2: Holiday Movie Challenge - Dates are in this (http://theviewaskewboard.com/showthread.php?2097-2012-366-Movies-in-366-Days-Challenge&p=579599&viewfull=1#post579599) post.
3: Chronologist Challenge - Watch at least one movie from each year from 1950 to 2012 - 40 points
